Mr John Dowler

Mr John Dowler

Headteacher
John has been Head at Helsby High School since September 2010.  Previously he had been a successful Headteacher in Northumberland for 6½ years. He has a track record of achieving Ofsted inspection reports of at least “Good”.  He has recently supported a secondary school that has moved from Special Measures to Good in less than two years. His school has a track record of consistently high achievement and has successfully closed the gap for PP students.  He has also led a significant improvement in Post 16 achievement over the last 5 years.  Helsby has achieved “significantly positive” VA scores for 2 of the last 3 years. He is also experienced at successful organisational change and the development of distributed whole school leadership. John is a member of the Steering Group and the School to School Support Group for the Cheshire Vale Teaching School Alliance.
Mike Holland

Mike Holland

Headteacher
Mike has been Headteacher at Hartford for 10 years. He has overseen the development of the school to one that is now on the verge of Outstanding. In 2014 Hartford students achieved the highest Baccalaureate scores in Cheshire West & Chester placing the school in the top 1% nationally; academic rigour supported by outstanding pastoral care is evident throughout the school. He has successfully supported two secondary schools as part of his LLE role in the past couple of years and he is a governor at two primaries. This gives him a thorough overview of education and he is adept at understanding data, finance and personnel issues in both sectors.     Mike’s greatest achievement is leading his school through the process of becoming a Church of England School; it has been much more straightforward to develop its Christian ethos which permeates its core. Hartford is quite simply the happiest school he has ever worked in.
David Charlton

David Charlton

Headteacher
David has led Weaverham High School for the last 15 years, taking the school on a rapid increase in the proportion of pupils achieving 5 A-C including English and Maths.  This now sits above 70% of the intake.   David adopts a practice of distributed leadership, empowering members of the Senior Leadership Team and Middle Leaders to take responsibility in decision making for the areas they lead.  David has personally coached several members new to the Senior Leadership Team in school to enable them to become effective in their roles.   In his work as a Local Leader in Education David has provided advice and support to a number of schools.  This has included overseeing the headship induction of two newly appointed Headteachers to schools in very contrasting circumstances.  In both these schools there has been a sustained and significant rise in the attainment and achievement of pupils.  David continues to provide ongoing coaching support to the Headteacher for one of these schools.  David has provided mentoring and coaching support to Headteachers in other schools, supporting them in tackling budget issues and supporting the Governing Body in carrying out the Headteacher’s appraisal.   As a LLE David was placed by the Local Authority onto the Governing Body of a school that had been placed in Special Measures to strengthen the leadership of the school under a new Headteacher and new Chair of Governors.   David is a member of the Strategic Executive Committee of the Cheshire Vale TSA and is Chair of the Cheshire West and Chester Schools Forum.
