National Leaders of Education (NLE)

National Leaders of Education

National Leaders of Education (NLEs) are outstanding headteachers or principals who, together with the staff in their schools (designated National Support Schools (NSS)), use their skills and experience to support schools in challenging circumstances.

In addition to leading their own schools, NLEs work to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards.

NLEs within the Cheshire Vale Teaching School Alliance include:

Sarah Lee

Tarporley High School and Sixth Form College

David Curry

Bishop Heber High School

Further information about NLEs, and the support they offer, can be found here>>

Sarah Lee

Sarah Lee

Headteacher
Sarah has been the Headteacher at Tarporley High School & Sixth Form College since 2002. The school moved from good to outstanding in 2014, became a Teaching School, and set up the Cheshire Vale Teaching School Alliance, which she leads. Sarah became an LLE in 2009 and an NLE in 2014, and is a trained Ofsted Inspector and Pupil Premium Reviewer. She is a former chair of her local headteachers’ association, conference organiser, and a builder of partnerships who is strongly committed to system leadership and school-to-school support. Her work in these fields includes advising governing bodies on headteacher appointments; supporting fellow headteachers as mentor, Professional Partner, or School Improvement Adviser; and leading peer reviews, focused reviews and ‘health checks’ in schools ranging from those rated good, to those requiring Improvement or in special measures.  The schools that she and her team have supported have all achieved positive outcomes at their next inspection.
David Curry

David Curry

Headteacher
David has been the Headteacher at Bishop Heber High School since 2004. The School has moved forward significantly when in 2007 it was part of the Gaining Ground (Coasting Schools) Programme to being the first high school in CWaC to achieve outstanding by Ofsted in 2011.  In 2014 the School received national recognition when it was one of only 35 Schools in England that achieved the DfE criteria for both excellence in GCSE Results 2013 and progress made between 2010-2013. As an NLE David has completed over ten Pupil Premium Reviews in Cheshire East, Stockport, Shropshire and Cheshire West and Chester. A recent Section 8 report stated that, “This decisive and comprehensive review has subsequently informed school strategies and actions to enable improvement in the achievement of and provision for disadvantaged pupils.”   David is also a member of the Steering Group for Cheshire Vale TSA.
